PILGRIMAGE TO ST FRANCIS OF ASSISI
“A day of spiritual enrichment and fellowship unfolded on March 12th, 2025, as over 86 of 2 bus filled with parishioners from Good Shepherd Church Setapak, organised by the vibrant Ministry of Evergreen, embarked on their first Pilgrim Church visit to the welcoming embrace of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Malaysia. This historical church provided a beautiful backdrop for a day of reflection and shared faith.
Our parishioners did a Life-Sized Stations of the Cross that allowed each parishioner to deeply contemplate Christ’s sacrifice. A sense of awe filled the chapel as they venerated the eight first-class relics of saints connecting with the lives of those who exemplified unwavering faith. The stained glass tour was not only a visual treat, but a beautifully told story of St. Francis of Assisi’s life, depicted in vibrant colors and intricate details. The parishioners also uncovered the rich history and significance of the St. Francis of Assisi church within the community.
Rev. Fr. Mitchel Joseph celebrated Mass in the serene and historically significant Portiuncula Chapel. ‘The veneration of the relics was a truly moving experience,’ shared one parishioner.
The Church of Good Shepherd extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Pilgrimage Committee of St. Francis of Assisi for their exceptional hospitality and for guiding our parishioners throughout their visit. The pilgrimage to St. Francis of Assisi Church left an indelible mark on the hearts of Good Shepherd parishioners, fostering a deeper sense of community and faith. The memories of shared prayers, historical insights, and spiritual reflection will undoubtedly resonate for years to come.”
Next Pilgrim Church: St Thomas, Kuantan.
