A Season of Giving: Standard 3 Students Share Lenten Blessings at Pertubuhan Lindungan Ikhlas

By the Standard 3 Teaching Team

On 15 March 2026, the Lenten season took on a deeper meaning for our Standard 3 catechism class. In place of their usual classroom lesson, students, teachers, and parents journeyed together to visit Pertubuhan Lindungan Ikhlas Kanak-Kanak in Ayer Panas.

The goal of this outreach was simple yet profound: to help our young students look beyond themselves and become mindful of the needs of children within our own neighborhood who require extra care and support.

A Community Effort
This visit was made possible through the incredible generosity of our parent community. We wish to extend a special “thank you” to all the parents who contributed essential groceries and daily supplies, ensuring the home’s immediate needs were met. We are also deeply grateful to Ezekial Avram’s parents, who graciously coordinated and provided the transportation that made this trip possible.

Building Bridges of Friendship
The day was filled with laughter and connection, thanks to Teacher Pamela’s leadership in organizing a series of spirited ice-breaking games. These activities did more than just break the silence; they allowed our students to mingle, play, and build genuine friendships with the children at the home. Watching the children bond as “buddies” was a powerful reminder of the universal language of play and kindness.

Lessons Beyond the Classroom
As we prepare for the joy of the Resurrection, this Lenten Outreach served as an eye-opening experience for our students. They walked away with more than just memories; they gained a firsthand understanding of compassion, the importance of sharing, and what it truly means to care for our community.

Blessings, Teacher Jessica, Teacher James, Teacher Pamela, and Teacher Jadrien
